We have changed significantly since beginning this blog 5 years ago. Then we were a young couple, living in Europe exploring our world; now we are a family of 5, living in the South. Our adventures used to include exploring new cities, countries and sites, and now include living day by day with a desire to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly. This is a small window into our world, a journal of adventures that continue to shape our lives.

Deliver Us
Our chapel had a wonderful time celebrating Christmas with a special program called Lessons and Carols. For Dave and I Lessons and Carols has become a Christmas tradition as our church in Atlanta, Intown, always has a Sunday dedicated to it. For those who have never had the wonderful pleasure of attending a service it goes something like this: A scripture reading, a Christmas Carol, A scripture reading, a Christmas Carol. You get the idea. The scriptures generally begin in Genesis and then jump to Isaiah and then the gospels all centered around the story of Jesus coming to earth.
For our service at the chapel Dave performed special music. He broke out his hammered dulcimer and played and sang the song printed below. It was very powerful and beautiful.
Deliver Us
By Derek Webb
Our enemy, our captor
Is no Pharoah on the Nile
Our toil is neither mud, nor brick, nor sand
Our ankles bear no calluses
From chains yet Lord we are bound
Imprisoned here we dwell in our own land
Deliver us
Deliver us
O Yahweh hear our cry
And gather us beneath your wings tonight
Our sins they are more numerous
Than all the lambs we slay
Our shackles they were made with our own hands
Our toils is our atonement
And our freedom yours to give
So Yahweh break the silence if you can
Jerusalem, Jerusalem
How often I have longed
To gather you beneath my gentle wings

David and Ami,
I hadn't been to the sight in a while. We love you guys and are thrilled with God's work in your life. I miss so much worshipping alongside David and Andy and wished we could all be together for the mass of Christ. We are together - just seperated by a globe.
Melody and I were in Milan, Florence, Rome, and Venice over Thanksgiving. As we were in Venice, I told Melody that I wished I had thought earlier about connecting with you all.
God is spectacular and I see His work written all over you lives. Melody is thrilled (Dave will really get this) about the baby. Marriage, babies, more babies - these are some of Melody's answers for life.
Anyway, may God's providence continue to be evident to you as you glorify Him.

P.S. I didn't know how to do this earlier, thus the two postings.
